Information provision
Knowledge as a fundamental right. Scientific work, successful study and research require access to scientific information. For your needs, we procure analogue and digital materials for research and teaching, even beyond the classic formats of books and journals. It is our task to make these resources intuitively usable for you via catalogues and portals. In addition, it is our goal to help shape the development of knowledge infrastructures for the licensing and provision of digital content together with information specialists and research funders. Examples of this are the Lower Saxony Consortium, the system of specialised information services for science and the network of supraregional licensing in Germany.
We advocate for the transfer of previously fee-based digital content into the common property of science and society and are committed to this in the German science system. By developing contractual, financial and infrastructural framework conditions, we are working to ensure that the proportion of freely accessible, high-quality specialist information can be continuously and sustainably increased within the framework of our local, regional and supraregional offerings.
