IIIF at the Göttingen State and University Library
The International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF) defines several application programming interfaces (API) that provide a standardised method of describing and delivering images over the web, as well as structural and presentation metadata. The IIIF APIs can be broken down into the core APIs (Image and Presentation) and additional APIs (Authentication and Content Search).
The Göttingen State and University Library supports the core IIIF-APIs in various image-based digital libraries to provide world-wide interoperability and also develops tools like TIFY to present digitized objects from different repositories along with their metadata.
As a registered member of the IIIF Consortium the Göttingen State and University Library will be holding the 2019 International Image Interoperability Framework Conference from the 24th to 28th of June in Göttingen.
The IIIF-compliant repositories provided by the Göttingen State and University Library are as follows:
- GDZ Digital library for historical resources
- Alliance licences and national licences repository
- University collections
- TextGrid digital library for scholarly editions
- Digital library for academic journals - Digizeitschriften (work in progress)
