In addition to our stacks, holdings from the open access areas are also available for loan. The open access areas is available for you to take out books yourself. To pick up orders from the stacks, please use the self-pickup areas or contact the service counters at the respective locations. To borrow books, you will need your library password in addition to your student ID or library card. Certain media can only be used on site. For microforms, a prior appointment is required at information@sub.uni-goettingen.de.
Yes - Inter-library loan orders can be picked up or returned at the Central Library. We also make inter-library loans available there, which may only be used in the reading room areas. Microforms from inter-library loans can then also be used by prior appointment at information@sub.uni-goettingen.de.

When transferring money, please state your library card number and ‘overdue fines’ as the intended purpose. Please note that it may take several days until we receive the amount and your outstanding debts are booked out. From 10 Euro overdue fees, the loan account is automatically blocked, also for renewals. If you have any questions, we will be happy to help you at the email address information@sub.uni-goettingen.de.
You can request the password from your user account by clicking on ‘Request new password’. Please enter your library card number (0007..., found on your student or university ID) in the form that appears. A new password will now be sent to your email address. This newly sent password is a temporary password that you have to change to a personal one within 24 hours in your user account.

In the Central Library we offer printing, copying and scanning facilities for individual use on all floors.
In our Divisional Libraries there are also printing, copying and scanning options for you.
You can request not only e-books, but also printed books through our Book acquisition programme for students or through our regular purchase suggestions form.
Not all e-books can be acquired by libraries from publishers, but are sometimes limited to private use. Technical conditions, licensing terms or pricing (because e-books are sometimes significantly more expensive) can also make the purchase difficult or even impossible.
Each of your suggestions will be examined by us for possible acquisition and we will try to implement them accordingly.
You have the possibility to connect to the university network via VPN so that you can access the licensed e-media. An alternative access path is provided by our HAN servers, which grant you access via a login with your library´s user account information.

Can I access licensed online resources as a private individual?
Private individuals with a library account at the SUB Göttingen can use licenced online resources from computers connected to the campus network of the University of Göttingen, e.g:
