In a new post ‘New Light on Old Texts: Imaging Science at the SUB Göttingen’ of our blog ‘Selten und Bemerkenswert’, we introduce Alex Zawacki who has just started working as imaging scientist at the SUB Göttingen. He discusses the University's new multispectral imaging system and the work of recovering damaged cultural heritage.

The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is funding the Germany-wide collaborative project open-access.network for another three years with around 2.6 million euros. In the second project phase, the Göttingen State and University Library (SUB Göttingen) is again responsible for technical provision and public relations.

On 1 January 2023, the EU project CRAFT-OA started under the leadership of the University of Göttingen / Göttingen State and University Library (SUB Göttingen) with 23 partners in 14 European countries. CRAFT-OA stands for ‘Creating a Robust Accessible Federated Technology for Open Access’.

The Forestry Divisional Library has expanded its services for you by adding a mute box for up to four persons in the study room. In the Medical Library nine mute boxes for up to four persons and 2 mute boxes for one person each are available.

Das Blog Waldwissen in alten Akten informiert über ein Erschließungs- und Forschungsvorhaben des Universitätsarchivs Göttingen in der SUB und der Fakultät für Forstwissenschaften und Waldökologie. Erschlossen werden die Akten der Fakultät und ihrer Vorgängereinrichtungen zwischen 1868, dem Gründungsjahr als Forstakademie in Hann. Münden, und dem 1972 abgeschlossenen Umzug nach Göttingen. Am Ende des Projekts werden die Akten mit detaillierten Inhaltsangaben im Archivportal Arcinsys online recherchierbar sein.

At the end of April, the New American Studies Journal: A Forum (NASJ) launched its first thematic issue "American Crises" with a new design and a new editorial board. The NASJ is also hosted by a new journal platform provided by Göttingen University Press.

Within the framework of the funding program "Forschungskooperation Niedersachsen – Israel" (Research Cooperation Lower Saxony - Israel) two projects of the SUB Göttingen have been approved: The  two projects "The Star and its Universe: Franz Rosenzweig between Past and Future" and "Networked Texts and Images in Early Modern Jewish Mystical Cosmographs" started on 1 May.

We are extremely pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. Bela Gipp and his research group at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen as of 1 April 2022. The professorship “Scientific Information Analytics” is designed, among other things, as a link between the Institute of Computer Science and the Research and Development Department of SUB Göttingen.
