Start for two SUB projects in the digital humanities

Projectteam Maps of GodWithin the framework of the funding program "Forschungskooperation Niedersachsen – Israel" (Research Cooperation Lower Saxony - Israel) two projects of the SUB Göttingen have been approved: The  two projects "The Star and its Universe: Franz Rosenzweig between Past and Future" and "Networked Texts and Images in Early Modern Jewish Mystical Cosmographs" started on 1 May.

Both projects are located in the digital humanities and are under the responsibility of the SUB Göttingen  Research and Development department. In the first project, SUB project participants are working with colleagues from Jerusalem on a multidimensional digital edition of the "Star of Redemption" by philosopher Franz Rosenzweig.

IlanotThe second project "Networked Texts and Images in Early Modern Jewish Mystical Cosmographs" is a cooperation of the SUB Göttingen with the University of Haifa and the follow-up project to "Maps of God", in which for the first time a digital access to the "Ilanot" called great faith maps of the Kabbalah was created. In this follow-up project, new functions will be added to the successful prototype. A link to the prototype can be found at http://ilanot.haifa.ac.il/site/?page_id=37.

The projects are part of the program "Forschungskooperation Niedersachsen – Israel" (Research Cooperation Lower Saxony - Israel), which promotes scientific exchange between universities and research institutions in Lower Saxony and Israel. This year, the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture and the Volkswagen Foundation are thus funding research projects in the humanities and social sciences with around 3 million euros. Of 49 applications submitted, 10 were deemed worthy of funding.
