EOSC Future - Project details
EOSC (European Open Science Cloud) Future
EOSC Future is an EU-funded H2020 project that is implementing the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). This EOSC will give European researchers access to a wide variety of research data and professionally provided services.
Through co-design with scientists and stakeholders, EOSC Future will establish a trusted platform with open and FAIR data, resources and services for all scientific disciplines. The platform will also seamlessly integrate existing data and services from science communities, research infrastructures and e-infrastructures. Via a single sign-on system, European researchers will thus have access to interoperable resources and support to manage the full lifecycle of their data.
The vision of EOSC Future is to demonstrate at the end of the project an operational EOSC Platform (‘System of Systems’) with an integrated execution environment consisting of data, professionally provided services, research products and infrastructure that will be accessed and used by the European researchers who will be engaged, facilitated, trained and supported to use EOSC resources and solutions.
EOSC Future will unlock the potential of European research via a vision of Open Science for Society by
- bringing all major stakeholders in the EOSC ecosystem together under one project umbrella to break the disciplinary and community silos and consolidate key EOSC project outputs;
- developing scientific use cases in collaboration with the thematic communities showcasing the benefits and societal value of EOSC for doing excellent and interdisciplinary research;
- engaging the wider EOSC community and increasing the visibility of EOSC through communications campaigns, marketing strategies, and physical and online engagement events;
- including the EOSC community in developing the EOSC Portal (including the long tail of science, public and private sectors, and international partners) via co-creation open calls.
