Hosting of National Licences - Project details (NLH)
Hosting of National Licences by the Göttingen State and University Library
In the years 2004-2010, the German Research Foundation (DFG) financed the acquisition of approximately 120 national licences for electronic media as part of a funding programme for the supraregional supply of literature.
The Göttingen State and University Library is one of eight libraries that has negotiated national licences with publishers and providers. It is responsible for the permanent provision of more than thirty national licences.
In order to guarantee the permanent accessibility of the national licences from its area of responsibility, the Göttingen State and University Library provides individual offers in its own hosting.
For this purpose, the metadata and scans provided by the publishers must be converted. A portal will be developed for all self-hosted national licenses in order to be able to offer a uniform entry with a comprehensive search across all products. Various search functions are being developed, including an advanced search and a facet search. User authentication and the provision of usage statistics supplement the portal's functions in order to meet the requirements for hosting national licences.
In addition, a donation of e-books of the publisher Belser is hosted in the context of this project.
The project is realized in cooperation with the departments 'Information Provision' and 'Digital Library'.
