OpenAIRE2020 - Project details (OpenAIRE2020)
Open Access Infrastructure for Research in Europe 2020
www.openaire.eu/project-factsheets
OpenAIRE2020 is the third funding phase of OpenAIRE (Open Access Infrastructure for Research in Europe). It represents a pivotal phase for this long-term effort to implement and promote Open Access (OA) and Open Science in Europe. Building on previous achievements, OpenAIRE2020 will expand and intensify its focus to include (1) not only the agents and resources of scholarly communication but also its workflows and processes, (2) not only publications but also data, software, and other research outputs, as well as the links between them, and (3) strengthening relationships between European OA infrastructures and other global regions, particularly Latin America and the U.S.
OpenAIRE2020 supports Open Science in Europe by harvesting, enriching and linking information from a range of data-sources, including Open Access repositories, aggregators and OA journals, to produce an information graph of research outputs in Europe and beyond. At the same time, OpenAIRE’s community network works to perform outreach and advocacy on a range of Open Science issues in Europe, particularly as they pertain to EC/ERC OA policies. To this end, OpenAIRE has National Open Access Desks in over 30 countries, and operates a European Helpdesk system for all matters concerning open access, copyright and repository interoperability. As the scientific coordinator of OpenAIRE2020, SUB oversees the strategic, networking and outreach activities of the project. It participates in several work packages, leading two:
- WP2: Outreach and Dissemination takes care of the production and effective distribution of dissemination materials, the management of dissemination channels and the organisation of outreach events, to ensure the widest possible awareness of the OA obligations in Horizon2020, to communicate project results and to foster and strengthen communication within the network of stakeholders.
- WP7: Scholarly Communication deals with the needs of the changing scholarly communication landscape, namely legal issues in context of research datasets, new metrics for measuring research and – SUB's particular interest – new, open methods for peer review.
