IOP Publishing

IOP Publishing is the leading publisher in physics. Members of the University of Göttingen and the University Medical Center Göttingen receive the following support for Open Access publishing in the IOP Publishing Journals. As part of the German National Consortium, TIB - Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology has entered into a contractual agreement with the publisher based on the publish-and-read model and for OA publishing in genuine Gold OA journals.

Time period: 2022 – 2024

Eligible publication types: primary research articles, research papers, special issue articles, letters, review articles.

Please note: There is no funding of 'page charges' in IOP journals!

Hybrid Open Access

Publishing in hybrid IOPP journals (List A): 'Corresponding Authors' are given the opportunity to publish their research articles in subscription-based journals open access free of charge via the so-called 'Read-and-Publish License'.

For articles published under this contract, the authorship is charged the additional 'Publication Charges'. Only OA publication charges are covered by the IOP Read & Publish contract.
It is possible that IOP Journals may require page charges to be paid by the authorship. In such cases, the corresponding authorship will receive a separate invoice. Page charges cannot be financed through the Open Access Publication Fund. The authorship must cover the costs itself. Details on 'Page Charges' are provided on the website and submission form of the respective journal, such as Applied Physics Express and Japanese Journal of Applied Physics.

Gold Open Access

Publishing in Genuine Gold Open Access Journals (List D): Free publishing of qualified article types for 'corresponding authors'.

If pure Open Access journals eventually incur publication costs for articles that belong to the non-qualified article types, funding may be available from the University of Göttingen's Publication Fund for Journal Articles. University funding will be used for this purpose. The funding requirements with funding reference are mentioned under 'Financial support through university funding'. Please contact us in advance.

The publication process for authors

  • IOPP identifies all qualified articles Göttingen corresponding authors based on their stated institutional affiliation. They will receive appropriate information during the peer review process.
  • If your article is not eligible, IOP will inform you.
  • All eligible articles appear under the Creative Commons license (CC BY).

In addition to being published by the publisher, the article will be made available and archived via GRO.publications, the publication management system of the University of Göttingen.
