Theology and Religious Studies at the Göttingen State and University Library
The Göttingen State and University Library has valuable historical holdings in Theology and Religious Studies, with an emphasis on biblical collections, Patrology and the Reformation with numerous Lutheran and other printed works of the Reformation (guide to historical book holdings). The contents of our historical holdings are very deeply indexed thanks to the classification scheme from the classified guard-book catalogue (GUK, systematic search up to 1945), and by keywords.
The subject specialist for Theology and Religious Studies is responsible for building up the holdings, indexing content and for specialist advice in searching the literature and in electronic publishing. The collection is built up in close coordination with the Library of the Associated Theological Seminars.
The entire collection of books, journals and digital documents can be found listed in the Göttingen University Catalogue (GUK). Since 1993 new acquisitions have been indexed and catalogued by the Göttingen Online Classification as well as by keywords.
