HUNOR (Hungarian Open Repositories)

HUNOR (HUNgarian Open Repositories) is a consortium of Hungarian higher education libraries and research institutions. Its main purpose is to build a network of institutional repositories in Hungary in order to provide an infrastructure for research institutions to make all their research publications openly accessible. HUNOR is also meant to be a coordinating body of Open Access affairs in the country.

There were 850 Hungarian projects supported by FP6 between 2003 and 2006 with 101 481 900 Euros. 68.7 percent of this amount was won by universities and research institutions. Hungary aims to be at least as successful in the FP7 calls as it was in the previous period. It is of major importance that the publicly funded research outputs can be publicly available and archived in Hungarian institutional repositories.

By joining the OpenAIRE project we also aim to reach a more effective dissemination of our researchers’ publications and integrate Hungarian research output into the European Research Area and into the global map of science. An additional value would be the acceleration and transformation of our researchers’ scholarly communication skills and practices.
